Profit Center on archived FI documents

We are on new GL, implemented FI archiving a year ago.  The documents are archived using SAP archive object FI_DOCUMNT, which is used for classic as well as new GL.

FI_DOCUMNT uses several tables during archiving (BSEG, BKPF, FAGLFLEXA etc.), however, the fields on archiving infostructure are predominantly from BKPF and BSEG. The BSEG/BKPF tables do not have Profit Center populated since it holds the entry view.  The accounting view within New GL has Profit Center populated on every record, but this does not seem to be used for archiving. Our users are looking for accounts by profit center from archived files, and I cannot seem to find a way to get around this.

Does anyone know if Profit Centers from New GL tables can be used during archiving, and if so, are there any SAP standard reports that can retrive the GL/Profit Center line items from archive files?

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam,

I asked one of our subject matter experts, Mitresh Kundalia(www.insiderlearningnetwork.com/mitreshku...) from Quality Systems and Software and below is his response to your question....

"I have reviewed your query. However, I am not sure I understood the question exactly – (1) your team wants to “archive” the FI documents for Profit Center OR (2) your team wants to “retrieve” the archived documents?

Let me make some comments – I hope this helps.

As you correctly observed, the Archive Object FI_DOCUMNT now also has New G/L tables (FAGLFLEXA for example), so, system will archive FAGL line items also, with the standard archive run. For Retrieval, if you want to retrieve one FI document, normal transaction FB03 should be able to retrieve the archived Document – as usual, including New G/L data elements. If I am assuming that you want to ‘retrieve’ archived documents, please describe what kind of functions you are referring to. I am assuming, if you are looking for transaction FAGLL03 to display line items, you can use Data source ‘Archive’ and you can select FI line items for the Company Code., Account No and dynamic selections such as Profit Center.

I hope this helps. If not, please elaborate the requirement a bit more in detail."

If you are looking for more specific details, I suggest reaching out to Mitresh directly via his insiderlearningnetwork.com page (www.insiderlearningnetwork.com/mitreshku...)

Thanks!
Allison
