First of all, great presentation. Just something to add to the Push Down part (Slide 12), when working with two or more DB's like in DW projects we may stage the data in DB 1 and then load it in the data mart (DB 2), we should also discuss possibility of push down while using lookups on tables from two DB's by creating (and updating) a copy of the table from staging DB in the mart. This may have a substantial increase in the performance. Also the benefits of using DB link can be discussed. From slide 34, the wrapper function can also be very useful when writing large amount of data to SAP using BAPI's etc. Few questions in general: 1. When enabling the SOLMAN integration with BODS, will the Auto Documentation functionality be available as a Swim Lane in Projects or sepertely? 2. In terms of BO Security, is there anything in the pipeline for object level security functionality in the upcoming releases? 3. After upgrading BODS from XI R2 and from 3.1 to 3.2 version, I discovered that some of the BODS objects (Lookup_ext etc) were not upward compatible and we had to replace them with Lookup_ext function etc. Are there any such open issues in release 4?

I am looking to implement a new DS 4.0 environment separate from existing DS 3.2 version that is being used by another project. Can you describe the difficulty level in upgrading the project / data flow components from 3.2 to 4.0? Any strategy option considerations for exporting old 3.2 code onto new 4.0 box versus upgrading 3.2 system to 4.0?

What are BW and Data Services integration options?. We are working on a project to load data and would like to post it directly to an ODS or Cube. Is that possible? To post to the cubes, what is the mechanism DS uses? Infopackages?

How mature would you judge Data Services 4.0.

During a mock upgrade of Data Services 3.2 to 4.0 I noticed that the install for Information Services stated that it shouldn't be installed on the same host as Data Services. Is this a hard requirement or merely a recommendation. Also, on average do most workflows migrate to the new environment (after upgrading the repository) in a fairly seemless manner? TIA, Ben Mazhary-Clark

I also want to add a question of my own: Can you lay out 1 or 2 of the new features of the latest version of Data Services, and also introduce Information Steward, and how it relates to Data Services? I know there’s a lot of buzz about the new release’s free text analysis and customer sentiment analysis capabilities.

Thanks Bridget! I am really happy to be here. I think two of the features that I am most excited about are the Unstructured text processing to give the ability to analyse unstructructured data such as press releases Twitter streams etc... and the fact that the Windows operating system not runs in a 64 bit configuration. This enables many more tuning options and options for structuring data flows from a performance standpoint.
