Having 2 targets from the same source.

Hi All,

Is it possible to have  2 target systems(BW) connected to the same source system(R3) and using the same extractors?
Would it affect the deltas?

We currently have a BW 3.5 setup which is connected to R3. We are planning to connect another system BI7.0 also to the same R3 system and use the same extractors.

Kindly let me know if it is possible and if the deltas will work fine in both the target systems.

thanks,
Kumar

It is possible since the deltaqueues are managed with respect to the target systems. So all the applications that use the delta queue functionality to process deltas are OK. These will include the LO Cockpit, EC-PCA and others.

This functionality will not work for the old LIS datasources (probably not an issue for the client since these have been declared obsolete for many years).

In addition, for datasources that use timestamp functionality (such as in the FI and CO areas as well as generic datasources with timestamps), care must be taken not to execute initializations or delta extractions from different BW systems for the same datasource simultaneously.

OSS notes 775568 and 844222 provide detail on this queston.
