Over at SAPexperts I've been maintaining a daily blog called Today in SAP, in which I recap the news of the day in the SAP (and greater ERP space). Most of what we do at SAPexperts is step-by-step instruction to help readers with their daily SAP challenges, but we thought it was also important to keep an eye on the future -- which is what the blog often focuses on.
I've linked each post from this week below with a key sentence or two excerpted. The posts themselves are often quite short, commenting on the key story of the day and providing other interesting links at the bottom, with the goal being to provide you with a quick, easy way to get your daily SAP news and commentary.
I usually post them around 10:00 am each day of the week, and I encourage you to come check them out and see what's happening each day in SAP.
This week, somewhat of a theme has developed, as most of the posts are cloud-related. Heading into TechEd, this suggests to me that we're going to hear a lot more cloud announcements in the near future.
"The question is more: Can SAP do it as well as Salesforce and other cloud legacy providers?"
"Yet more evidence that shows that SAP's green efforts are not just for show."
Wednesday: Salesforce Is Betting on Social
"In the same sense, SAP is good at communicating and interacting with its community, but its efforts to make its software more social -- or to break into more social areas altogether, as it attempted with StreamWork -- have fallen flat."
"It's a fine line SAP will have to walk: Inevitably companies with the biggest big data problems are the biggest companies. Will the message connect with smaller players as well?"
"If this is indeed due to happen, it's a huge announcement for SAP, perhaps every bit as important as anything HANA related. It's probably fair to see Salesforce as SAP's biggest competition going forward, and this is SAP's best chance at keeping up in the cloud space."
